As part of the museum’s highly acclaimed workshop series in which the Santa Monica Museum of Art encourages its public to ‘make a difference,’ you are invited to draw and contribute your own Fundred Dollar Bill Project for delivery to Washington D.C. Free and open to the public.

Mel Chin will lead a Fundred workshop for people who may be interested in bringing the project into the community on their own.

What Mattered THEN, Matters NOW: Part II Projects compelled by Crisis and Dreams Reframed

7:00 p.m. – Bemis Center, Omaha, NE.

In January of 2010, the Sous Terre truck was scheduled to stop at Gross High School to pick up contributions of Fundreds but due to mechanical issues the truck was unable to make the pick up. Though the armored truck was unable to come to Omaha, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts is pleased to announce that Mel Chin will make a special trip to collect the bills and lecture. Omaha is registered as having one of the largest residential Superfund sites in the nation.

Fundred Dollar Draw In

Noon – 4:00 p.m. – Sam Fox School, St. Louis, MO, to encourage St. Louis citizens to support the project, the Sam Fox School is hosting the Fundred Dollar Draw In. During this four-hour event, people are encouraged to gather and draw their Fundred Dollar Bills. Pizza will be delivered at noon, and Mel Chin joins at 2:00pm.

As part of the Sam Fox School Public Lecture Series, Mel Chin will present his work, and motivate Washington University and St. Louis to get involved with Fundred. Reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and artist lecture at 6:30 p.m.

There is no (a) solution, because there is no (a) problem. Or: Making a 300 Million Dollar Difference with Conceptual Art in the Age of Disaster and other Repetitive Negatives.

7:00 – 9:00 p.m. – Farm Lab, Los Angeles CA.

Artist Mel Chin will present an abbreviated exposition of his works of art as political critique, chasing after disasters with options and solutions and the making a "Fundredmental" difference. Requirements: Bring pen, pencils or crayons.

A community night of dancing, Fundred making and traditional Louisiana tunes. Trivia and sampling some of the spicy New Orleans inspired treats from the Padre’s Kitchen. This event is free and everyone in the community is invited to join! This event is a partnership between Padre’s Marfa and Ballroom Marfa.
